the lightdubai lighting guide

Running the gamut from function to flair, wall lights come in a wide array of styles and serve many purposes. Wall lighting can provide necessary illumination for safety, accent architectural features and artwork, add task lighting or serve as décor all on their own - and - used of course indoors and outdoors.

Why do I need wall luminaires and where to use them?

When “wall light” is mentioned, the first notion that pops into many people’s heads is of an ornamental sconce that provides little useful illumination beyond an accent light.

While this application is certainly important as a decorative feature, wall lights also serve myriad functions for reading, proper task lighting and general safety.

Wall lights are important components of properly layered lighting, which adds both beauty and utility to overall design schemes. Wall lights have applications in any room,

working alongside ceiling lights, a wall-mounted fixture provides supplemental illumination, while using wall lights in place of overhead lighting creates a more atmospheric effect and can alleviate glare.

With Lightdubai you will find from classic to modern, retro, vintage or industrial style the right Wall light which will integrate with the style of your home and your taste.

In bathrooms, vanity lights are a key part of light layering: Flank a mirror with wall fixtures to banish shadows from your face that overhead lights tend to cast.

Mirror light and IP value
Before you buy a mirror light for your bathroom, it is important to first consider the area in which you will be using it. The area determines which IP value your mirror light should have. Bathrooms can be divided into three zones, and depending on the zone where you want to install the mirror light, you need a suitable IP value. This is determined mainly by where you want to place the light relative to water sources, such as taps, showers and baths.

IP44 and IP54
If you install the light above the tap, or next to or above a shower of bath, it needs to have minimum an IP44 value. These lights are waterproof for splashing water.

Lastly, there are also IP54 lights, which are waterproof for splashing water.
